If is official - I am a garden killer!!
So far the only thing that has survived are my potato's. My tomatoes, zucchini, basil and lettuces have died. Where I went wrong I believe was that I didn't did deep enough and when the vegetables grew to a certain height, the roots weren't strong enough to hold them up because there was no support from the soil. Live and learn, next time I will dig deeper!!
